We always love seeing our designs on the red carpet, and this week we had double that pleasure. On June 10, gorgeous actress and television host Carrie Keagan rocked our black silk / satin asymmetrical evening gown to the 3rd Annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards in Los Angeles. We think she looked like a...Read more →
When it came time to narrow our ideas down for the Nikk Rich summer capsule, it wasn’t easy. When planning any collection, for any season, we start with so many ideas and over time have to eliminate a handful, one at a time. Often we will line up all of the options, but...Read more →
You know nothing makes me happier than when Bill Cunningham, iconic fashion reporter and photographer for the New York Times Fashion & Style section, and I are on the same page. Well, he might not know it, but I do!
Today, I was doing my morning rounds of all things fashion news when I came across his latest video montage called “Tails, You Win” on the site. To my excitement his piece this week featured many beautiful pieces of clothing, all found “On The Street,” that have some variation of a floating hemline.
When we were working on designing our summer capsule I was in love with this look, and it was very important for me to work it into the collection. What resulted what our “Spirit” dress. Crafted from a very fluid cotton modal fabric this tank dress (sorry you can’t see the top of the style in these photographs) has what I think is the perfect floating hemline; super short and sexy in front, super long and sexy in the back. We’ve shown it here with our “Reflect” cotton modal knit top, which adds a little cover when you want it, but with a modern, sexy flair.
So, here’s to you Bill Cunningham…the stars are aligned!
It is always incredibly fun to see Nikki Rich in the pages of a glossy magazine. This month, Bello, a beautiful fashion, entertainment and lifestyle magazine, has one of our designs featured in one of their many fabulous editorial spreads. You can view the issuu (digital magazine, don’t you know!) online and see...Read more →
As most of you know, music is in my soul. It’s such a big part of who I am and how I view the world. While I find inspiration in many different ways when designing, music is always an over arching influence. I can only assume that you are like the rest of...Read more →
I’m not sure what it is, but for me, perhaps I feel like this IS the summer of love! After a day spent dreaming of the Haight and obsessing about all things Tie Dyed, today I can’t seem to get enough of Bohemian Chic! Something about the look; long, flowing, light, and carefree,...Read more →
For me, one of the best new fashion trends to hit the steamy summer streets is, without a doubt, Tie Dye to-die-for! With every season that passes, when it comes to the latest fashion trends for women, you all know that we tend to look beyond the ordinary and always search out the extraordinary. And this year, Tie Dye is just that, extraordinary!
While it’s been around since the hippie days in the Haight, It’s been fun to see all of the ways that Tie Dye has been reinvented for the summer of 2013. It’s come a long way. We are so glad that we embraced it and can share with you all of the ways we incorporated it into our summer capsule.
If you’ve been following Nikki Rich for any time at all, you know that we can be partial to the “maxi” and really, what’s better than a maxi dress presented in the most gorgeous shades of dreamy blue Tie Dye? Our “Dream” maxi dress is crafted from a sublimely soft modal fabric, and besides the beauty of the tribal Tie-Dye pattern, the dress makes a real statement with the inclusion of wide short sleeves and a sexy open back with a delicate tie around the neckline.
If you love this, just wait until you see what tomorrow brings!
If there is one item you will always find in a fashion trend forecast, it’s a little black dress. Whose heart doesn’t race when they get their hands on the perfect one? If you’re anything like me, I’m sure you have had many, and I’m sure you’ve loved each and every one for very different reasons! When designing our summer capsule we just had to ask ourselves, what makes a little black dress special? What makes a particular little black dress jump off the racks and into your arms? Well, we thought about this quite a bit and what we came up with was our perfect little black dress, the Sapphire.
Crafted in dreamy, soft black modal, it’s the details that make this LBD stand way, way, way out from the crowd. From the sexy v-neck to the sexier halter style open back this dress will make you look hot but keep you feeling cool in the summer heat, and if you look a little closer you’ll be able to see the details of the delicate lace inserts we’ve positioned on either side of the dress.
We’ve styled the Sapphire here with an amazing vintage style belt, complete with an outrageously large round buckle, and a delicious pair of peep-toe booties.
…now grab your favorite little black dress and ROCK it!
If you are anything like me, sometimes you just want something…different, and it seems to me that during the summer season, anything goes. Even with the latest summer fashion trends popping up in the news and on fashion blogs around the globe, people still do dress for themselves and make every effort to make sure that they not only look good, but that they feel good (and cool) too. It can be a real challenge to beat the heat and stay fashionable. You need to be able to reach for something that won’t weigh you down or stick to your body in unflattering places. You need to be able to slip into something easy, and you want to know you look good in it.
While our Summer Capsule for 2013 has so many easy pieces to grab for in this hotter weather, both the Truth and the Wind are pieces that easily stand out of the collection for that purpose. Both of these well-tailored rompers are adorable, and unique, and sexy, and practical, and fun all at the exact same time. The Truth romper was crafted from a pastel Aztec print silk, which keeps it feminine and flirty and also makes it a bit more versatile to bring you from day into night. The Wind, also very feminine and flirty, was created from a soft tone tribal print in woven cotton. Perfect for a more casual day in the sun.
So the next time you’re thinking about what you’re going to wear “in this heat,” remember our rompers, and what makes you unique, and reach for something… different.
I may have mentioned it before, but we have put together a capsule collection for the 2013 summer season. While we unfortunately aren’t planning to offer items for sale in our online store, select pieces have been shipped to beautiful boutiques around the country. If you see something you love, please look at the “Stockist” list on our website and get in touch with the store nearest you to see if they’ve got some goods in stock.
The weather has been simply beautiful around here, and I’ve heard from my gems on the East Coast that a heat wave weekend is imminent. I’ve been combing fashion magazines and blogs almost every day now, and the buzz for all things summer is getting louder. Today I came across Lauren Conrad’s blog and in preparation for the season she wrote to tell us all about skirts, skirts, skirts! Mini, Midi, and the beloved Maxi!
Speaking of Maxi…this is a look I love from our own capsule! The “Fly” is a super soft chambray maxi skirt with braided pocket details. We pair it with our “Seed” top, a dreamy cotton modal top with criss cross detailing in the back and the most delicate draped short sleeve. The skirt is lightweight and easy on a hot summer day and the top is as cool as it looks.
Time to grab an ice cold drink and let the sun shine in!
