The Stone Dress…Inspired (F12 Collection)

Finding inspiration for the Stone dress from the Fall 12 Collection was effortless. The last time Richie was in Greece he sent me a photograph of a sculpture of a breathtaking Grecian Goddess he had seen in a museum. Although it was only a still image I could almost see her long, flowing dress moving in the air. The goddess herself was beautiful, and easily epitomized an ethereal strength I had not seen before.  When sketching ideas for the Fall 12 Collection we just knew we had to design a piece that spoke to this aesthetic. Using the softest modal fabric on the planet we took great care to pay attention to the fine details of the dress including the one full sleeve which was cut out to reveal the shoulder and bring a dress inspired by history into the present day. The belt you see is a funky, vintage piece that I threw in to add another element of character, but Richie and I are currently working on a line of accessories to compliment all of the looks you see on the Nikki Rich website. I was also fortunate enough to have been able to design a second, silk version of this dress for the ever-talented actress Alexandra Breckenridge who wore it recently to the Emmy awards ceremony. The slit on her dress is much more pronounced that the one from the collection, but we all felt it was appropriate for the occasion. Move over Angelina!
